Washington County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a missing 8-year-old autistic child Sunday night. With the assistance of K9 Maverick, deputies located the missing boy.

Multiple deputies responded to the Cedar Hills neighborhood, including a Sheriff's K9. Deputy diPietro and K9 Maverick began to search for the missing boy. The search went through a heavily wooded area adjacent to Ward Creek. Once the K9 and Deputy diPietro reached the creek, they located the missing boy in the middle of the swift moving creek. The boy was wet and shivering due to the cold water.

The boy needed immediate assistance to prevent him from being swept under or suffering from hypothermia. It is likely the boy might not have survived had K9 Maverick not located him so quickly.
