PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU NEWS RELEASE
Registered Nurse Arrested on Multiple Sexual Assault Charges - Victims Were Patients
On Wednesday July 10, 2013, 38-year-old Jeffrey Neyle McAllister was arrested on multiple sex assault charges. The charges stem from McAllister's contact with multiple vulnerable adult women seeking medical treatment at the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center emergency room during McAllister's employment as a Registered Nurse (RN).
The Portland Police Bureau investigation began when a patient came forward in April 2013, regarding allegations that McAllister inappropriate sexual contact in the Emanuel Hospital ER. Subsequent investigation and assistance from Investigator Jessica Van Horn of the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN), made detectives aware of additional victims.
McAllister worked at Legacy as an ER Technician from 2005 to 2008 and as an RN in the emergency room from 2008 to 2013. As of April 2013, McAllister was no longer employed by Legacy as of Legacy April 2013.
McAllister also has work history as a nurse with St. Vincent Hospital (Providence) in Portland and Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Oregon. McAllister has been on administrative leave from his current employers, St. Vincent Hospital and Mid-Columbia Medical Center.
McAllister has law enforcement experience as a Legacy Health System Security Officer (2004-2005), a Beaverton (OR) Police Officer (2002- 2004), a Seaside Police (OR) Officer (1996-2002), and a Reserve Officer for the Independence Police Department (1997).
Detectives are concerned there may be additional victims and believe others may have information regarding McAllister.
McAllister was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Rape in the First Degree (two counts), Sex Abuse in the First Degree (three counts), Sex Abuse in the Second Degree, Sex Abuse in the Third Degree, and Sodomy in the First Degree (four counts).
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact either the Sex Crimes Unit at (503) 823-0400; Detective Heidi Helwig at firstname.lastname@example.org or Detective Jason Christensen email@example.com.
