Governor Aims To Sue Oracle

Posted Thursday, May 29th 2014 @ 9pm  by Gale Cunningham

Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber has tech giant Oracle in the cross-hairs, for the Cover Oregon debacle that has caused embarrassment to the state, and resulted in several investigations.

Thursday, he told lawmakers he's asked Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum to file a lawsuit against Oracle. The goal is to recover some of the $134 million in federal money pent on the state's online insurance exchange website, which has never worked.

He's also written a letter to the Inspector General of the US Department of Health and Human Services, encouraging the federal government to go after oracle, as well.

Instead of signing of for health insurance in one sitting, Oregonians have had to either fill out paper applications, or partial online applications that had to be finished by hand.

Oregon has ditched plans to fix the site and is switching to the federal exchange.
