On Thursday June 5, 2014, at 11:33 a.m., Southeast Precinct officers responded to the report of a residential burglary at a home in the 4500 block of Southeast 78th Avenue. The homeowner confronted a burglar in the basement of the home, pillaging the owner's property.

The suspect fled the residence, with some of the owner's property, and was located several blocks away by Southeast Precinct officers. The suspect, 23-year-old Barrett Michael Stoffer, was taken into custody without incident. The victim positively identified the suspect and the stolen property.
