Saturday around 4 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Southwest Naito Parkway underneath the Burnside Bridge on the report of a pedestrian hit by a car.

Officers arrived and located the victim, a male adult, lying in the roadway just South of the bridge near Southwest Ankeny Street. The victim had not been hit by a car but was suffering from a stab wound.

Medical personnel transported the victim to a Portland hospital where he is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Homicide detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are processing the crime scene and are in the early stages of an investigation.

There is no suspect information at this time and it is not known if the victim was one of the homeless people sleeping under the Burnside Bridge.
