A bridge replacement project on U.S. 26 at West Humbug Creek about 16 miles east of the junction with U.S. 101 will cause delays for motorists over the next four weeks. Single lane closures with flaggers controlling two-way traffic are expected between 7 p.m. on Sunday and 11 a.m. on Friday.
During weekends, the contractor is not working and all lanes are open. However, during weekdays, the contractor is working around the clock (24 hours) and motorists can expect 20 minute delays.
Another bridge repair project on U.S. 26 at the Necanicum River (milepost 4.5) is continuing but most of the work will be below the bridge. However, there could still be some single lane closures with flaggers controlling two-way traffic during weekdays.
Motorists on U.S. 26 have been experiencing delays during weekdays because of the heavy summer coastal traffic combined with construction projects. Motorists should expect delays or consider alternative routes such at U.S. 30 and OR 6 depending on your final destination.
