Michelle Williams Reveals She Was Suicidal At The Height Of Destiny's Child

Michelle Williams is doing what she can to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health by opening up about her struggles with depression as a young teen and her co-hosting gig on CBS' The Talk on Wednesday (October 18) included a mindblowing confession.

"I'm in one of the top-selling female groups of all time, suffering from depression," the 37-year-old singer recalled on the show. “When I disclosed it to our manager [Mathew Knowles] at the time, bless his heart, he was like, 'You all just signed a multi-million dollar deal. You're about to go on tour. What do you have to be depressed about?'" Williams tried to combat her feelings with Mathew's suggestion that she was just tired amidst Destiny Child's busy schedule, but the feelings only grew "to the point where [she] was suicidal … and wanted out" from the group.

Depression was something that the star said she struggled with since she was just 13-years-old and it wasn't until she was in her adult years that she was able to realize what exactly was going on with her. "I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time, I would have disclosed that 'I've been suffering from depression,'" she continued.
