Pepsi Is Launching The First Ever "Nitro Soda"

Have you ever drank and soda and thought "hmm, too carbonated?" Well, Pepsi is launching a new version of their classic cola that will hopefully appease those who crave less carbonation in their drinks.

Pepsi confirmed that Nitro Pepsi is coming on Thursday (Jan. 24), so, it's time to get excited. The new beverage features a "velvety, cascading foam" and will come in two flavors: signature cola and vanilla. Yum!

According to Pepsi's press release, Nitro Pepsi is "the first-ever nitrogen infused soft drink." The infusion technique is popular in the beer and coffee worlds, however, this will be the first cola company to try it out.

"Cola has been the same for 125 years as a category and, yeah, there's been changes in flavor and packaging, things of that sort, but the idea of carbonation has never really come off of it because it's so identifiable with soda," Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s VP of Marketing, told Food & Wine. “As we started getting into this process with putting nitrogen in, Nitro Pepsi came about...It’s undeniably Pepsi, but it’s not soda."

With the new nitro-infusion technique, Pepsi aims to give the drink a smoother bubble to create "the cascade effect," according to The Takeout. The goal is reportedly to give the beverage "a creamier body and smoother texture." Overall, Pepsi aims to create a more "sophisticated" soda drink.

There's no word yet on when Nitro Pepsi will be available for purchase, so, we'll just have to wait and see when it will drop. Will you give Nitro Pepsi a try?
