We're going back to Zamunda in 2020!

Paramount announced on Monday (February 11), the Coming to America sequel will hit theaters August 7, 2020.

News of the film's release date comes less than a month after Eddie Murphy revealed that the 31-year-old movie is set to get its long-awaited follow-up. While the sequel has yet to be named, the 1988 cult classic romantic comedy — which gifted audiences with its hilarious tale of an African Prince who traveled to America, specifically Queens, New York, to find love and escape his arranged marriage — will return with Eddiewho has already signed on to reprise his role as Akeem.

"After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2is officially moving forward," Eddie said in a statement last month. "We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite (Craig recently directed Eddie in Dolemite Is My Name) and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen."

Craig will direct the film, and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris is rewriting a script by original Coming to America writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield. Eddie is also returning to the producer chair as he is set to produce the film along with Kevin Misher and Kenya, who is also the executive producer.

According to Deadline, the sequel will center on Akeem's long lost son. After learning of his heir's existence, the Prince of Zamunda will return to America to meet him. While all the stars of the original cast have not yet signed on to reprise their roles for Coming to America 2, "the intention is to bring back them all back," including Arsenio Hall, who played Prince Akeem's aide, Semmi; Shari Headley, who played Lisa and won Akeem's heart; John Amos, who played her father Cleo, and was the famous owner of McDowell's; andJames Earl Jones, who played King Jaffe.
