Portland Research Center Pays CASH For Taste Testers

The 33,000-square-foot, $9.4 million Food Innovation Center was inaugurated in 1999 and stands on the west bank of the Willamette River on Naito Parkway, adjacent to Union Station. It is a joint venture between OSU and the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

They have has hired everyday folk to sample strawberries and turkey jerky, poke through fish fillets, and even weigh in on salad dressing packaging and pay $40 for about a 30 min session (give or take)

They have tested for a lot of local businesses: everyone from Salt & Straw to Bob’s Red Mill and Brew Dr. Kombucha—tweak new flavors, crowd-test recipes, determine product shelf lives, or gain insight into consumer choices.
