Demonstrations on Friday were peaceful has they honored George Floyd, the Minneapolis man who died being arrested by police. Protesters called on police agencies across the country the end violence against people of color.

Late Friday night, a group marched to the Police Bureau's North Precinct and then on MLK Boulevard.

A group surrounded a car and a passenger was shot. The person was hospitalized for a grazing wound, treated and released.

The crowd continue to the Multnomah County Justice Center where they broke a window and started a fire inside.

The fire was put out and police dispersed the crowd, but they went to Pioneer Place Mall.

The group broke into the mall and looted several stores.

Police made several arrests and more arrests are expected.

More arrests are expected.

PPB Investigators are actively investigating crimes that were committed. Anyone with information about individuals who committed criminal activity at any event is asked to share that information with the Portland Police Bureau. Information can be sent via email to CrimeTips@portlandoregon.gov.

"We know what sparked the original demonstration and we provided space for those who needed to express grief," said Acting Chief Chris Davis. "The mass destruction we saw tonight in our City is unacceptable. Anger at the police is one thing; destroying our City is another. We know our community as a whole does not condone mass destruction. In the coming days, we will be increasing our police presence, leaning on our partners, and working with the community to restore safety."
