Oregon Zoo Reopening To The Public

The Oregon Zoo announced Monday that it plans to reopen to the general public Sunday, July 12 with added safety measures to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The zoo has been closed for nearly four months. It will open with a members-only preview July 9-11 - the first time visitors have been allowed at the zoo since mid-March.

When the zoo reopens, the following measures will be in place initially:

Timed-entry tickets that need to be reserved in advance

All zoo guests, including members, must now reserve timed tickets in advance online. The zoo will reopen with reduced capacity and timed ticketing. Member-only preview reservations are available Monday, July 6. General admission and all other membership reservations go on sale Wednesday, July 8.

Face coverings will be required

The Oregon Zoo will require all guests over the age of 6 to wear a face covering while visiting. Guests ages 2-5 are encouraged to wear a mask if possible. Guests who are unable to wear a face covering for medical reasons will be exempt.

A primarily outdoor experience

The zoo says once inside, guests will follow a one-way path through the zoo, and some indoor and high-touch areas will remain closed.

Handwashing and sanitizing stations

Stand-alone handwashing stations are located throughout the zoo, and will have free hand sanitizer available at food areas, restrooms and along the paths.
