Chris Young and Kane Brown tribute their hometown roots in a new collaboration, "Famous Friends," released on Friday (November 20).
The track, co-written by Young with Carly Barlowe and Corey Crowder, celebrates everyday heroes such as police officers, teachers, preachers and more. The duet finds the country stars giving a shoutout to the Tennessee counties where each grew up - Rutherford for Young and Hamilton for Brown.
"Iâve got some famous friends youâve probably never heard of / But back in Rutherford County our crowd is second to none / You might not know âem here in this big city weâre in / But when I go back home Iâve got some famous friends," Young sings on the first chorus.
"This song is a piece of me, and it means a lot because itâs honest and itâs real-life," Young said in a statement. "Plus, Kane and I are good friends and being able to have that history together, it adds a whole other level to the track. âFamous Friendsâ is one of my favorite songs â itâs personal and itâs a lot of fun, so Iâm glad itâs getting out there for people to hear it."
Brown teased the song earlier this year, sharing a snippet of the track on social media, asking fans to "blow up" Young so he'd release it. "Blow up @ChrisYoungMusic and tell him to release our feature so u can hear the rest of the song," he wrote on Twitter at the time. "We all have famous friends."
This isn't the first time Brown and Young have worked together. Their previous collaboration, "Setting the Night on Fire," appeared on the deluxe edition of Brown's self-titled debut album. The two also toured together in 2018 for Young's "Losing Sleep World Tour."
