Lady A, Thomas Rhett Tribute Legendary Artists In New Song, 'Heroes'

Lady A teamed up with Thomas Rhett to pay tribute to iconic musical artists on a new duet called "Heroes." The new collaboration was released on Friday (November 20) as a part of Lady A's newly-expanded edition of Ocean.

Rhett and Lady A's Charles Kelley trade lead vocals on the ballad, as they remember legendary artists and the music they left behind. The two reference songs like Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's "Island In The Stream," Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muskogee," Tom Petty's "American Girl," and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Kelley and Rhett penned "Heroes" alongside Jesse Frasure, Joe London, Sean Douglas and Julian Bunetta.

"All of my heroes are dying/ Lord, may they rest in peace/ Oh, so here’s to the songs that will always live on/ From now until eternity," they sing on the chorus.

"Heroes" is one of the six new tracks on Lady A's Ocean Deluxe Edition. The project also features a live rendition of their number-one hit, "What If I Never Get Over You" and "Let It Be Love," along with a new track called "Underwater."

The country trio also included their current single, "Champagne Night," along with a Tiki Bar rendition produced by Lady A's Dave Haywood.

"It’s crazy to think this album is only turning a year old because it has already been part of so many moments for us as a band," Hillary Scott said of Ocean in a statement. "We wanted to share our appreciation with our fans with a couple of never released tracks we thought they might like and put a spin on some others that have been fun to play around with during quarantine."
