Ice Cube is not trying to be associated with any of Ye's controversial comments from his recent appearance on Drink Champs.
On Tuesday, October 18, Cube hit up his Twitter account to address the artist formerly known as Kanye West after the Donda rapper mentioned his name several times during his sit down with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. After Ye claimed the N.W.A founder influenced his "antisemite vibe," Cube said he had no idea what the billionaire rapper was talking about. The rapper-actor has faced allegations of antisemitism in the past, but he said he's never been anti-Semitic.
"I hate that my name was dragged into this Drunk Champs bulls**t," Cube tweeted. "I don’t know what Ye meant by his statements, you’re gonna have to ask him. I didn’t put the batteries in his back. Please leave my name out of all the antisemitic talk. I’m not antisemitic and never have been."
Two years ago, Cube came under fire after he posted a series of images that alluded to debunked conspiracy theories about Jewish people. At the time, he claimed that he wasn't being anti-Semitic, just pro-Black. Prior to that, Cube also received backlash in the early '90s for his offensive lyrics about then-N.W.A. manager Jerry Heller, who was also Jewish, in his infamous diss track "No Vaseline." Despite his past allegations, Cube later denounced antisemitism and racism following an op-ed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote in The Hollywood Reporter in 2020.
Cube's statement comes after the mother of George Floyd's daughter filed a $250 million lawsuit against Ye for repeating debunked theories about Floyd's death during the same episode. REVOLT removed the episode from YouTube less than 24 hours after it was posted.
