A North Carolina man was reportedly murdered in front of his bride and daughter hours after his wedding
Tyrek Burton, 37, was killed in a suspected road rage shooting seven hours after marrying Kiara Holloway at the Barber Park Event Center in Greensboro on October 12, ABC 11 reports. Brittany Burton, the groom's sister, told ABC 11 that her brother was leaving the park under the impression that his bride had already returned home, but drove back after Holloway called and told him she was still with their family.
“He made a U-turn and I guess didn’t see somebody. Cut them off and that person followed him back to the park,” Brittany said.
The suspect, a stranger who hasn't been identified, accused Burton of cutting him off before fatally shooting the groom in front of his bride, one of his daughters and other relatives before fleeing the scene. Burton, who was found by Greensboro Police bleeding in the parking lot just prior to 9:00 p.m. local time, was pronounced dead despite immediate life-saving efforts by first responders.
Burton and Holloway were together 16 years and shared four daughters.
“We were having the time of our lives and it’s like in the blink of an eye, it was all just stolen away from us,” Brittany told the outlet.
“He was one of the coolest people I know. Could walk into a room and that smile.”
