A$AP Rocky will not take the stand during his gun assault trial.

According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, February 11, the New York native has declined to testify in court after weighing his options for the past week. During a hearing this morning, the judge asked Rocky's lawyer Joe Tacopina if his client made a decision. That's when Rocky waived his right to testify. The judge asked Rocky if he was sure about his decision and the risks that come with it. The rap star was confident when he responded.

"I do in fact," Rocky replied.

A$AP Rocky hasn't said much throughout the trial, which just entered its third week. He previously broke his silence to congratulate Kendrick Lamar on sweeping up the 2025 Grammys last week. Afterward, he broke character inside the courtroom while his friend A$AP Twelvyy was on the witness stand. During his testimony, Twelvyy was asked if he knew what the name of Rocky's creative agency "AWGE" stood for. Before he responded, Rocky told the A$AP Mob member "Don't say" from his seat across the room.

Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, is on trial for allegedly shooting at his former friend A$AP Relli during an argument in 2021. Relli accused Rocky of firing a bullet that grazed his left hand. The 36-year-old artist was charged with felony assault with a semiautomatic weapon. He pleaded not guilty and declined a plea deal ahead of the trial. If convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison.
