Playboi Carti's fans are ecstatic after the Atlanta rapper finally announced the release date for his long-awaited album.

On Wednesday night, March 12, Carti confirmed his forthcoming LP I AM MUSIC will drop this Friday. He revealed the news in a post on X along with a viral video on his Instagram timeline. The brief clip shows British musician Blackhaine walking on a highway at night as he screams "NEW CARTI ALBUM THIS FRIDAY!" Despite Carti's previous announcement about his album, fans knew the release date was real after Blackhaine announced it. The artist, born Tom Heyes, has become a key figure in Carti's album rollout over the past two years.

The announcement arrived days after billboards promoting the album began popping up in major cities across the country. The massive signs gave fans hope that Carti's third studio album would finally drop two years after he first announced it. Last year, Carti led fans to believe the album would drop before the end of 2024. However, an update on his website confirmed the album would arrive “no later than six months from September 12, 2024.” Carti will miss the deadline by two days, but his fans don't seem to mind at this point.

A tracklist for I AM MUSIC hasn't been revealed yet, but the album is expected to feature an all-star lineup. Akademiks claimed Carti called him personally and played the entire album for him. He said Young Thug, Travis Scott, Future, The Weeknd, Lil Uzi Vert and a surprise guest appear on the project. If true, it would be Carti and Uzi's first collaboration since 2018.

Playboi Carti's follow-up to Whole Lotta Red is set to drop two days before his headlining set at Rolling Loud California. The festival's co-founder Tariq Cherif said Carti plans to perform songs from the album for the first time during his closing set on Sunday. Other headliners include A$AP Rocky and Peso Pluma. Look out for I AM MUSIC arriving this Friday, March 14.
