Oregon Humane Society is hosting a unique adoption event on March 29 with the goal of helping a group of shelter dogs who have been waiting a long time to find a loving home. The event, “Pawfect Match,” will give 10 dogs the chance to spend 10 minutes each with 10 prospective adopters. During each meeting, adopters will have a chance to talk with OHS staff, volunteers, and foster parents about that dog’s unique needs.
“Many of our dogs have been waiting a long time for a home which reflects what a lot of shelters are experiencing right now,” says Laura Klink, OHS Public Information Officer. “Our goal with this event is to create a special experience for people who may be a match with one of our longer-term dogs.”
To participate in the Pawfect Match adoption event, prospective adopters will follow a two-step process. First, fill out an adoption questionnaire that includes information about other pets in the home, lifestyle, and expectations. Second, complete a simple form to express interest in the Pawfect Match adoption event. OHS adoption specialists will review each questionnaire and form within 48 hours and respond to each interested adopter about their compatibility with the Pawfect Match pups.
Those who adopt a dog at the event will receive a special gift basket that includes a coupon for a free private training session.
Cash, a 6-year-old hound mix, pictured above, was transferred to OHS from Klamath Animal Shelter and has been waiting for a home since November. He will be part of the Pawfect Match adoption event.
“OHS has many wonderful pets looking for home,” adds Laura. “If one of the Pawfect Match dogs is not the right fit for an adopter, chances are there is another wonderful shelter animal here who would make a loving companion.”
All adoptions include up-to-date vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and a certificate for a free health exam with participating veterinarians.
