Police gunfire injured K9 Kylo as officers tried to arrest a suspect in a Gresham homicide last week.
Portland Police identified the man who was killed in an officer involved shooting as 39-year-old Eddie Campbell, of Portland.
He was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Jeff Thompson in Gresham.
Police say during a violent encounter with Campbell, gunfire from police wounded K9 Kylo who later was euthanized by a veterinarian.
Officers recovered a handgun they say Campbell carried. Police have not said whether Campbell fired his gun. The investigation continues.
