Lincoln City Police Investigate Woman’s Death

On November 17, 2017, at approximately 12:57 p.m., Jeanene Beck was reported missing from the Rodeway Inn located at 1070 SE 1st Street in Lincoln City. A resident of Gresham, Oregon, her and her twenty-three year old autistic son was visiting Lincoln City. 

It was reported by her son that Beck had been out for dinner, returning to the motel room Wednesday evening on November 16th. At about 9:00 p.m. on November 16th, Beck left the motel room to have a cigarette. Beck's son indicated that his mother had not returned to the motel room. 

Family members and friends came to Lincoln City to assist in searching for Beck. 

Later in the evening of November 17th at approximately 9:40 p.m., a female body was located in the canal that runs behind the Rodeway Inn. Members of the Lincoln County Major Crimes Team were called to assist in the investigation. 

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the female body was that of Jeanene Beck who was reported missing earlier in the day. Upon initial examination, there were no visible signs of injury. Beck's body was recovered. 

Although a cause of death has yet to be determined, there is no danger to the public. An autopsy has been tentatively scheduled for some time Sunday by the Oregon Medical Examiner's Office. 

The Lincoln County Major Crimes Team consists of detectives from Newport Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, Toledo Police Department, and members of the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office in addition to the Lincoln City Police Department.
