New Springwater Corridor Bridge

Thanks to funding from the Parks Replacement Bond, a new bridge installed along the Springwater Corridor near SE 45th Avenue will open on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

The new bridge is located near the Johnson Creek Boulevard trailhead at SE 45th Avenue and Johnson Creek Boulevard. It replaced the original wooden trestle bridge from the Springwater Division Line rail, dating from the 1900s.

Parks Replacement Bond funding allowed for durable steel and concrete construction. The bridge allows for clear passage over Johnson Creek, which will improve fish habitat and reduce debris accumulation.

The Bond also funded the replacement of the wooden decking on the Springwater Corridor bridge near SE Circle Avenue - and the complete replacement of three bridges in Forest Park and two bridges in Marshall Park. All of the new bridges have been designed to be durable and easy to maintain so that trail users can enjoy these spaces for decades to come.
