Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed a bill on Saturday making Juneteenth an official Oregon holiday.

Brown says it was long overdue, and there's still a lot of work to do to better protect and support Black Oregonians.

She thanked Clara Peoples, of Portland, and Peoples' granddaughter Jenelle Jack, whose efforts brought Juneteenth to Oregon.

The bill passed both the House and the Senate with unanimous support.
