The Oregon Humane Society is hosting a two-day Pet Food Bank to help community members who may be struggling to care for their animals. OHS is partnering with Crossroads Church in Northeast Portland for this event to better serve pet owners who may need to travel via public transportation.

Dog and cat food and other supplies will be available as well as information about other resources in the community for people and animals.

Due to the expected high temperatures, the public is encouraged to keep their pet at home and be prepared for the heat.

“Keeping pets and people together is a priority for OHS,” says Sharon Harmon, OHS President and CEO. “We are committed to helping our community in new ways as we begin to emerge from the pandemic.”

In 2020, OHS distributed more than 100,000 pounds of food and supplies via deliveries around the state and at two Pet Food Banks hosted at OHS.

The food being distributed includes generous donations from Chewy.com, Humane Society of the United States, Pioneer Pet Products, Smuckers (via Greater Goods Charities), Hound and Gatos and Walmart.

What: Free pet food, supplies and resource information for pet owners in need

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 29, and 3-6 p.m., Wednesday, June 30

Those interested in supporting OHS Pet Food Banks can help by making a donation. Monetary donations allow OHS the flexibility to address the greatest needs at our shelter.
