Blazers Top The Suns

----- Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combine for 48 points as the Portland Trail Blazers improve to 4-2 on the season with a 114-107 win over the Phoenix Suns Saturday night at Moda Center.

Portland led by as much as 58 points in their opening night win in Phoenix. Portland's largest lead on Saturday night was eight points as several players once again struggled to make shots. The Blazers connected on just 44.0% of their field goals and committed 15 turnovers, but converted 42.3% of their three point shots on 11-for-26 shooting.

Damian Lillard led Portland with 25 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists and CJ McCollum added 23 points, five rebounds, and six assists to lead the Blazers attack. Pat Connaughton added 13 points off the bench. The Blazers had seven players reach double-figures on the night.

Lillard's struggles continued on the night. He entered the game shooting just 38% from the field and finished just 7-for-21 against the Suns but he hit a big bucket with 30 seconds remaining to put the Blazers up by four and then made two free throws to extend Portland's lead to six.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 34 points on 11-for-19 shooting keeping his team within striking distance late into the fourth quarter.

Next up- Portland will host Toronto Monday night at the Moda Center. Tip off scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Chad's Take- The Trail Blazers offense is in a funk right now. I'm not overly concerned because Damian Lillard is a great scorer and eventually his shots are going to fall, but the offense does need some work. It sounds simple, but the Blazers need to move bodies, move the ball, and make the next pass while Jusuf Nurkic needs to be more aggressive and go up strong at the rim and not be afraid to challenge defenders. Better execution will be needed if the Blazers are going to beat the Toronto Raptors on Monday night. The 4-2 start is nice, but this group is capable of much more on both ends of the floor.
