Wizards Deny Trail Blazers In Overtime

----- Markieff Morris scores 28 points as the Washington Wizards defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 125-124 in overtime Monday night at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.

The Trail Blazers had plenty opportunities on Monday night, but were unable to put the Washington Wizards away. Markieff Morris finished the night with 28 points and a career-high six three-pointers as the Wizards edged the Blazers with a 125-124 overtime win Monday night at Moda Center.

''After the second (3-pointer) I was like, `Are they really gonna let me shoot the ball?' I think that's the most I ever shot," Morris said. "I was playing (Jusuf) Nurkic and he couldn't cover the pick and roll and the three so they just had to give something up.''

Bradley Beal finished the night with 25 points including a game-tying three-pointer with 6.6 seconds remaining in regulation. John Wall and Otto Porter Jr. each finished with 16 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 22 points off the bench.

Portland (2-1) got 29 points from Damian Lillard and 13 from CJ McCollum, but the two combined for just 12-for-46 from the field. Jusuf Nurkic had a strong outing finishing with 22 points and 18 rebounds including a career-high nine offensive rebounds. Nik Stauskas added 15 points off the bench.  Al-Farouq Aminu was superb with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

The Blazers had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation and overtime, but Lillard had his two layup attempts blocked by Beal and Porter Jr.

''The kind of effort we had, we put ourselves in position to win the game,'' Lillard said. ''We just didn't execute, on the defensive end or the offensive end, as good as we needed to to win it. That's frustrating.''

Up Next- The Trail Blazers play the first of four on the road Thursday in Orlando against the Magic.

Chad's Take- 20 turnovers + Bad shooting + Bad Defense = First loss of season.
