Blazers Stuff The Pelicans

----- The bench scores 50 points as the Portland Trail Blazers top the New Orleans Pelicans 132-119 Thursday night at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.

Damian Lillard scored 26 points as Portland tops New Orleans 132-119 in the first meeting between the teams since the Pelicans swept the Trail Blazers out of the first round of the playoffs last season.

Portland's offense was firing on all cylinders Thursday night. The Blazers connected on 50.6% of their field goal attempts including 18-for-35 from three-point range. The Blazers also recorded a season-high 26 assists. Jusuf Nurkic scored 20 points and nine rebounds and Al-Farouq Aminu added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blazers bench scored 50 points on the night. Evan Turner led the way with 14 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists and Nik Stauskas added 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting.

Portland (6-2) is off to their best eight-game start to a season since the 2013-2014 season and improved to 13-2 in their last 15 regular season home games against the Pelicans.

Thursday's game marked a milestone for Terry Stotts, who coached his 500th regular-season game for the Blazers.

New Orleans (4-4) played without All Star Center, Anthony Davis (elbow). Davis worked out before the game after being listed as doubtful but was a late scratch before tip off. Julius Randle led the Pelicans in scoring with 29 points off the bench.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night at Moda Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.

Chad's Take- For the first time during his seven years in Portland, Terry Stotts now has a bench he can depend on to make plays. This luxury will give Dame and CJ key rest throughout the season.
