Saturday afternoon, Beaverton Police Officers were dispatched to a robbery and assault call at the Beaverton City Park. A male suspect had robbed a food kiosk that is located at the park and physically assaulted the clerk.

The suspect entered the kiosk and struck the female clerk in the head with a soda can. The suspect then grabbed the cash register and ran out of the kiosk and dropped the cash register near the door. The suspect grabbed some of the cash from the register and ran behind the city library where his car was parked. The suspect then fled the area in a black Subaru Forester. The clerk was not seriously injured and was not transported to a hospital.

There were a number of witnesses to this crime who were in the park and some of them were able to get photographs of the suspect and his vehicle. The photographs were given to the police at the location and they were then sent out to officers searching the area for the suspect. A Beaverton officer was driving through the Franklin Apartments and saw a vehicle that matched the vehicle in the photos.

The owner of this vehicle was identified as Samuel Edward Paul 38 years old of Beaverton. The photographs provided by the witnesses matched the driver's license photo of Paul. Paul was located in the apartment complex and was arrested without incident. Paul has been charged with Robbery 1 and Assault 2 and will be lodged at the Washington County Jail.
